Barnsley waiting on McGeehan ban appeal

Barnsley were waiting to learn the outcome of their appeal against Cameron McGeehan’s three-game ban.

The midfielder was charged with violent conduct by the Football Association on Wednesday following a clash with a Southend player last weekend, meaning he could miss this weekend’s match against Accrington as well as meetings with Sunderland and Doncaster.

Barnsley will definitely be without Jacob Brown, who was sent off in the first half of the win over the Shrimpers and will serve a three-game ban.

Daniel Stendel’s side were already reeling from the loss of top scorer Kieffer Moore for the rest of the season because of a head injury.

Accrington will be without goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov following his unusual dismissal against Blackpool on Tuesday.

Evtimov was shown a straight red card seven minutes from the end of the 2-1 defeat after throwing a bottle that had been hurled onto the pitch by a Blackpool supporter back into the stand housing the away fans.

The Bulgarian must now serve a three-match ban, paving the way for Jonny Maxted to return after a mild dose of concussion.

Stanley remain without defender Ross Sykes, who is a couple of weeks away from full fitness following a groin injury.
