ANTONIO CONTE could be on his way back to Juventus this summer – but Chelsea will NOT be left off the hook with his compensation claim.

Conte was sacked by Chelsea last summer despite still having a year on his £9m-a-season contract.

The Italian, who won three Serie A titles between 2011-14 in charge at Juventus, has been out of work since leaving Chelsea.

He enjoyed a successful stint in west London, winning the Premier League title and the FA Cup.

The Blues have been paying his wages until his contract runs out.

And it appears as though they will fulfil the entirety of that deal before Conte potentially heads to Juve.

Current Juventus manager Massimo Allegri looks set to leave the club at the end of this season – and the Italian giants want Conte and club legend Andrea Pirlo back as his replacements.

The plan is to have Pirlo - Conte’s midfield marshal for much of the manager’s reign in Turin - act as a No 2 to the boss.

Former Italy coach Conte fell out with Juventus when he left five years ago, but relations with president Andrea Agnelli have improved since then.

Conte, 49, has also been linked with Inter Milan, Roma and Real Madrid.

A real wit Real was talked about late last year after the Spanish side sacked Julen Lopetegui.

But Real president Florentino Perez instead decided to appoint B Team coach Santiago Solari until the end of the season.

Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino are now potential candidates for Real in the summer, with Conte having his eyes set on Italy.

Conte himself was spotted attending Watford’s Premier League clash with Leicester last Sunday.

He watched the game alongside his former Chelsea assistant Steve Holland.

Conte was back in London to discuss with Chelsea the terms of his dismissal, which have not yet been fully resolved.

“Chelsea is the past for me now,” the 49-year-old told Italian outlet Calicomercato last week.

“I don’t want to talk about it, especially as there is still legal action on-going between me and the club.”
