Mourinho says Pep and Klopp have full backing in dig at Man Utd recruitment

JOSE MOURINHO has taken a swipe at the Manchester United board for failing to back him - like Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp are supported at City and Liverpool.

The 55-year-old was dismissed by Old Trafford chiefs in December after three seasons in charge at United.

Jose Mourinho spoke to beIN sports where he discussed frustration with lack of transfer backing

Mourinho splurged £360million on 11 signings at Old Trafford, including a Premier League-record £89m for Paul Pogba and £505,000-a-week Alexis Sanchez.

But he moaned about the club's failure to back him in the summer.

He told beIN Sports: "In the case of Manchester City, in the first season, Guardiola was not champion, was really difficult, people, was expecting a winning Manchester City.

“They were already coming from winning periods, they were coming from champions with Mancini and Pellegrini.

“Players like Aguero and Kompany were already champions twice. In the first to the second season, Pep made great decisions but great ones that were supported.

“For example, he didn’t want Zabaleta or Sagna, two-right-backs, he didn’t want Kolarov, Clichy. In the same summer he sold four full-backs and got four.

“He got Walker, Danilo, Mendy and Zinchenko or Delph.

“You see Liverpool and I was thinking: how many were there before Jurgen arrived?

contract talks
"No Alisson, no Van Dijk, no Robertson, no Salah, no Firmino, no Mane, no Fabinho, no Wijnaldum, no Keita.

“This is work in depth. If you are a manager with the possibility to choose the players to follow your football idea, that’s one thing. Another thing is if you are not able to do that.”

Mourinho also incredibly claimed one player asked not to be criticised in training to protect his status at the club.

United club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Mourinho in the managerial hot seat at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has led his side to seven straight wins as the Red Devils climbed level on points with fifth placed Arsenal.
