Shrewsbury will not have new boss John Askey on the touchline for Saturday’s Sky Bet League One home clash with Bradford.
Askey, who left Macclesfield to take charge at New Meadow in June, will be serving a ban from his time with his previous club for the first two matches of the Shrews’ season.
Toto Nsiala and Jon Nolan are set to miss the game after being the subject of bids from an unnamed Championship club – reported to be Ipswich, managed by former Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst – and handed in transfer requests. Askey has said the pair will not be training with the squad while their futures are unconfirmed.
A number of players could make their debuts after joining over the summer, with midfielder Anthony Grant the latest to arrive, from Peterborough on Thursday.
Bradford also signed a host of fresh faces and could hand several of them their first competitive outings for the Bantams.
Striker Eoin Doyle arrived from Preston on August 1 and was the 12th new recruit for new manager Michael Collins.
The likes of former Manchester United youngster Joe Riley, Bayern Munich academy graduate Thomas Isherwood and former Burton midfielder Hope Akpan also came through the door and could feature against Shrewsbury.
In a busy summer, Bradford also signed three loanees – including Wolves winger Sherwin Seedorf, the nephew of four-time Champions League winner Clarence Seedorf.
