Patrice Evra returns to the Premier League as he completes a move to West Ham.

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has signed for West Ham United until the end of the season.

Evra, a free agent after leaving Marseille in November when his contract was cancelled after he kicked out at a fan, will wear the No. 27 shirt.

The 36-year-old was banned from UEFA competition for the rest of the season but he is eligible to play in the Premier League.

He told the official West Ham website: "I'm really happy to be a Hammer, to be back in the Premier League, and I love this game.

"It's amazing to be back and I am thankful to West Ham for giving me the opportunity to do my job.

"I'm just happy to be here, it's really simple. You don't realise how lucky you are and just to wake up this morning and know I am going to train with my new teammates made me smile.

"It was the fastest thing I have done in my life, because both parties wanted to work together, so it was very easy to make an agreement."

West Ham boss David Moyes, who worked with Evra at United, sees the left-back's experience as key as West Ham look to remain clear of relegation danger.
