Norwich City vs Preston North End - Jonny Howson remains a doubt for Norwich ahead of Preston clash

Norwich are again expected to be without midfielder Jonny Howson for the Sky Bet Championship clash with Preston at Carrow Road.

Howson has missed the last two games with an ankle knock and boss Alex Neil has indicated this match could be too soon for him.

Alex Pritchard, impressive at home to Rotherham last Saturday, will be targeting a recall having been on the bench for the midweek draw at Fulham.

Josh Murphy and Steven Naismith are also pushing for starts for the Canaries, who have taken 16 points from 18 at home this season.

In-form Preston welcome back Jermaine Beckford and Marnick Vermijl.

Striker Beckford has been sidelined since August because of a hamstring strain while full-back Vermijl had a similar issue that has prevented him from featuring for the past month.

Boss Simon Grayson, whose team are unbeaten in their past six fixtures, remains without Aiden McGeady (hamstring) and John Welsh (calf).

The other two absentees for North End are Calum Woods and Stevie May due to long-term knee problems.
