Sheffield Wednesday vs Nottingham Forest - Daniel Pudil faces late fitness test

Sheffield Wednesday defender Daniel Pudil faces a late fitness test before the home game against Nottingham Forest.

Left-back Pudil has been nursing a thigh strain in recent weeks and missed last week's defeat at Birmingham.

Midfielder Sam Hutchinson returns to contention after missing out last Saturday due to a one-game ban, while skipper Glenn Loovens came through unscathed in his first appearance of the season at St Andrew's following ankle surgery.

Apart from Pudil and midfielder Marco Matias, head coach Carlos Carvalhal has a full-strength squad to choose from.

Forest will check on the fitness of a handful of players before making the trip to Hillsborough, but Britt Assombalonga will remain on the sidelines.

Defender Damien Perquis (groin), midfielder Thomas Lam (hamstring) and goalkeeper Stephen Henderson (hip) could come back into the squad while Daniel Pinillos is closing in on a return to full training after his knee problem.

Assombalonga is still struggling to fully recover from the calf issue that has ruled him out of the last six matches while fellow striker Matty Fryatt (Achilles) remains a long-term absentee.

Forest have no new problems following the EFL Cup defeat to Arsenal in midweek and the likes of Dan Fox, Armand Traore, Mustapha Carayol, Matty Cash, Jorge Grant and Apostolos Vellios are all options for Reds boss Philippe Montanier should he wish to make changes.
