Dunfermline will add Nat Wedderburn to the squad to face Queen of the South at East End Park after the midfielder recovered from injury.
Goalkeeper Sean Murdoch remains out with a wrist problem.
Manager Allan Johnston, who has dropped his interest in striker Alan Kovac, said: "I know a good number of the Queens players from my time there and they are all good players. They have strikers that can hurt you so we have to defend better than we have been as we have been losing too many goals.
"If we can tighten up we have players that can win the game for us."
Queen of the South welcome back Dale Hilson after injury however Dean Brotherston has been ruled out with an ankle problem.
Manager Gavin Skelton wants his men to keep sticking to the hard work approach he requested in pre-season.
He said: "I said when I took over that I wanted us to be a strong, hard-working team. In the games we have played so far that approach has been prevalent and we have got off to a decent start.
"Dunfermline have a very good squad and if we stopped working as hard as we have done then we could struggle to pick up anything from the game."
