Swindon vs Coventry - Luke Williams preparing for Coventry
Posted Friday, August 05, 2016 by PA
Swindon manager Luke Williams is hoping to put a poor and "stressful" pre-season behind him when they face Coventry on the first day of the season.
The Robins have only signed three players during the summer transfer window and failed to win any of their friendlies, but Williams is hopeful his team can bounce back.
Lawrence Vigouroux, who joined the club permanently in July after spending last season on loan with the club, is expected to be first-choice goalkeeper.
New signing Conor Thomas is hoping to make the starting XI with the Swindon boss having no injury concerns in his squad.
Coventry defender Chris Stokes will miss the start of the campaign after a setback in his recovery from a knee injury.
The 25-year-old missed the end of last season with the problem and is expected to have another operation which could rule him out for up to three months.
Summer signings Marvin Sordell and Kwame Thomas could make their Sky Blues debuts after arriving on free transfers.
Ex-Wigan midfielder Chris McCann is also in line for his Coventry bow after signing on loan this week from MLS franchise Atlanta United. He will be available to Tony Mowbray until December when he heads to America.
