Ipswich vs Derby County - Luke Varney added to Ipswich squad

Veteran forward Luke Varney will go straight into the Ipswich squad for the visit of fellow promotion chasers Derby after recovering from a serious Achilles injury and signing until the end of the season.

Midfielder Cole Skuse will be assessed after the midfielder suffered a broken nose in the midweek win at Fulham.

Fit-again Kevin Bru came off the bench at Craven Cottage and is in contention along with winger Ryan Fraser, who was again an unused sub after returning from his knee injury, while defender Christophe Berra has recovered after having a tooth knocked out.

Midfielder Teddy Bishop has stepped up his rehabilitation from shin splints and hamstring problems ahead of the Christmas schedule. Guinea forward Larsen Toure (groin) remains out.

Jeff Hendrick missed training on Thursday and is a doubt for Derby.

The midfielder was forced off with an ankle injury during the win against Bristol City and he continues to receive treatment.

Should he miss out, George Thorne will return to the starting line up after being rested in midweek along with top scorer Chris Martin, who is expected to be restored to the side at Portman Road,

Goalkeeper Scott Carson will miss a fourth successive match with his back problem.
