Scunthorpe vs Barnsley preview - Davey out of Iron reckoning
Posted Tuesday, February 24, 2015 by PA
Scunthorpe defender Alex Davey has been ruled out of the home game against Barnsley.
Davey, on loan from Chelsea, is struggling with an ankle injury that forced him to miss Saturday's defeat at Preston and Andrew Boyce is expected to retain his place alongside Niall Canavan in central defence.
Striker Gary McSheffrey is pushing for a recall after returning to the substitutes' bench at the weekend following suspension and midfielder Isaiah Osbourne is in contention for a start.
Goalkeepers Sam Slocombe and James Severn are both recovering from broken arms so Luke Daniels will continue.
Barnsley caretaker-boss Mark Burton has no new injury or suspension worries but striker Sam Winnall and defender Peter Ramage are not ready to return.
Winnall has made only two appearances since the end of November due to a hamstring problem and Ramage has missed the last two games following the recurrence of a thigh injury.
Goalkeeper Ross Turnbull is waiting to learn whether he requires surgery to resolve a back problem so Adam Davies will continue after making his first appearance since Boxing Day in Saturday's home win against Crewe.
Midfielder Dale Jennings remains sidelined through illness as Barnsley bid for a fourth league win on the road this season.
