Scunthorpe United vs Swindon preview - McSheffrey missing for Iron

Scunthorpe will be without suspended striker Gary McSheffrey for their home game against Swindon.

McSheffrey starts a two-game ban after being booked for the 10th time this season in the midweek draw at Coventry and that means Hakeeb Adelakun and Terry Hawkridge will be vying for a place in the starting line-up.

Boss Mark Robins must decide whether to retain Chelsea loanee Alex Davey alongside Niall Canavan in central defence or recall Andrew Boyce.

Recent signing Kevin van Veen and George Evans, on loan from Manchester City, are hoping to make their first starts for the club.

Swindon have been handed a double boost ahead of the trip.

Captain Nathan Thompson has missed the Robins' last two matches with a dead leg while Nathan Byrne missed out on the defeat at Oldham on Tuesday night through illness but Mark Cooper revealed that the pair are back in training and will feature against the Iron.

That means Ben Gladwin could be given a rest having been thrown back into action for 90 minutes against the Latics after a speedy recovery from a recent operation.

That midweek loss was Swindon's second successive defeat on the road, having previously lost two League One games on their travels all season.
