Tranmere Rovers vs Carlisle preview - Hume set for Rovers return

Tranmere are hoping to have striker Iain Hume available when they welcome Carlisle to Prenton Park on Saturday.

The former Rovers player, who came through the club's youth system, is still awaiting international clearance having signed a six-month contract last week.

Defender Adam Dugdale is expected to keep his place having also returned to the club for a second spell, with centre-back Michael Ihiekwe sidelined.

Micky Adams' side are aiming to stretch their unbeaten run to five league matches.

Carlisle boss Keith Curle could name an unchanged starting line-up as his side chase back-to-back league wins for only the third time this season.

The Cumbrians came through unscathed following last week's home win against Mansfield when recent signings Anthony Griffith and Charlie Wyke both made their home debuts.

Midfielder Gary Dicker (leg fracture) and striker Billy Paynter (Achilles) are both edging closer to full fitness but will be absent again, while winger Danny Kearns is pushing for his first appearance since November after returning to the bench as an unused substitute last week.

Danny Grainger shook off an ankle injury to play the full 90 minutes against Mansfield and is expected to resume in defence.
