This signing must not happen – Arsenal fan opinion

Arsene Wenger says Thierry Henry will return to Arsenal, in an as yet unspecified capacity, but Gunners fan and Young Guns blogger Jamie Sanderson is concerned, as he explains here…

I absolutely love Thierry Henry. He's probably the most exciting player of the Premier League era and a true Arsenal legend.

But let's not let that cloud our judgement.

Henry became a free agent this week after leaving MLS club New York Red Bulls and he's been strongly linked with a return to Arsenal on a deal until the end of the season.

I'd absolutely love to see him in the red and white again, but this must not happen. It would be crazy.

At 37 now, Henry is not the player he was and while he'd sell shirts and sell more seats, it would be like wheeling out a show pony.

We can't let heart rule head here and the same goes with Henry coming back as a coach. Does he have any coaching ability? Let's not make snap decisions just because he's a hero.

I'd love Henry to be part of Arsenal's future in some way, and admire his passion and love for the Gunners, but he has to prove himself once again if he wants to be involved in the future.
