Ayr Utd. vs Peterhead preview - Injuries decimate Ayr defence

Posted Saturday, November 15, 2014 by PA

Ayr have lost an entire defence for the visit of Peterhead with knee problems ruling out Nicky Devlin and Kevin McKinlay, while Michael Donald and Peter Murphy both have shoulder injuries.

The Honest Men, who will use Kevin Rutkiewicz as a trialist for the second week running, have also secured Dale Keenan on loan from Partick to bolster their numbers.

Manager Mark Roberts said: "There is no hiding from the fact that we are having a bad run, but it is a time for everyone to show their character.

"We have been playing well in patches, but need to do that for a full 90 minutes to win."

Peterhead will be without Dean Cowie and Ross Smith following respective recent knee surgery and despite returning to fitness Ryan McCann and Fraser McLaren will miss out due to a lack of recent game time.

David Cox is an injury doubt and Scott Ross is absent due to family commitments.

Manager Jim McInally said: "Injuries are hurting Ayr, but they will be determined to get going again by beating someone.

"They have good players in their squad and we will have to play as well as we did to get a point from Dunfermline last week to do anything."
