Hamburger 1 : 2 Eintracht Frankfurt - HSV score at last - but still lose

Hamburg scored their first goal of the season, but it was not enough to prevent them from going down 2-1 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Nicolai Muller cancelled out Haris Seferovic's opener, after Hamburg had set a new Bundesliga record of 507 minutes without scoring at the start of a season.

It was not enough even for a point, though, as Lucas Piazon's brilliant late free-kick snatched victory for the Eagles, who moved up to seventh and left Hamburg rooted to the bottom of the table.

Hamburg claimed their unwelcome record in the 25th minute of the came as they broke Bochum's mark from 1979 of 474 minutes without a goal at the start of a Bundesliga campaign.

And things got worse for the hosts just before half-time as a mistake by Johan Djourou allowed Frankfurt to take the lead.

The Swiss defender allowed Timothy Chandler's cross to reach Seferovic and he placed his shot past Djourou, whose attempt to make amends on the line was unsuccessful.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga tried to break Hamburg's duck with a 25-yard effort, which was no problem for Felix Wiedwald in the Frankfurt goal, but it was a sign that Hamburg were willing to chance their arm.

Heiko Westermann's header was saved by Wiedwald before the moment the HSV-Arena had been waiting for arrived.

With 58 minutes gone, they finally found the back of the net as Muller, put through by Lewis Holtby, slid his shot under Wiedwald.

It was a relief to the fans and visibly also to the players.

Lasogga crept in as Bamba Anderson tried to shield a ball back for his goalkeeper, but the Hamburg player's poked shot was saved by Wiedwald.

It looked like Muller's goal was at least going to be worth a point, even when they conceded a free-kick more than over 30 yards out with time almost up.

Piazon had other ideas, though, and blasted a dipping shot past Jaroslav Drobny to silence the home fans and leave Hamburg at the foot of the table with just two points from their first six games.
