Koby Arthur will come into the Birmingham squad after he was recalled from his loan spell at Cheltenham.
The 18-year-old winger scored four goals in eight games for the Robins and was due to be there until January.
Lee Novak (knee), Olly Lee (hamstring) and Denny Johnstone (thigh) are all out for Lee Clark's side.
Striker Matt Green has also suffered a patellar tendon injury and is expected to be out for a further two months.
Sheffield Wednesday skipper Glenn Loovens is expected to return to the starting line-up following suspension.
Defender Loovens sat out a one-game ban in the goalless weekend draw at Bolton, but is hoping to return in place of Kamil Zayatte alongside Tom Lees.
Midfield pair Kieran Lee (groin) and Sam Hutchinson (back) both remain doubtful, while on-loan winger Royston Drenthe is pushing for his first start.
Defender Lewis Buxton returned to the bench as an unused substitute at Bolton following a knee injury and is hoping to make his first appearance of the season.
