Stevenage Borough vs Shrewsbury Town preview - Bond blow for Boro

Stevenage will be without Andy Bond for the League Two clash with Shrewsbury after deciding not to appeal against last weekend's sending off against York.

Bond was shown a straight red for bringing down Michael Coulson when trying to regain possession after a poor Sam Beasant clearance had bounced back off the midfielder.

Boro boss Graham Westley had better news of Calvin Zola as he continues to recover from injury, with the striker ready to step up to 35 to 40 minutes of action instead of just appearing as a late substitute.

Looking back at the 3-2 loss to York, Westley said on Boro Player: "We saw some terrific football from 10 very valiant men. When they come together and get their ambitions sorted, they're going to be playing some really good stuff."

Shrewsbury boss Micky Mellon could make changes after admitting his side were struggling to find their form after a 2-0 defeat to Hartlepool.

It ended their unbeaten start in Sky Bet League Two and denied them the chance to move into the top three.

Midfielder Dave McAllister played in the reserves' 3-3 draw with Morecambe on Tuesday after his long-term ankle injury while skipper Liam Lawrence also started after completing his three-game ban.

Mellon told the Shropshire Star: "There has been no negativity - we have just spoken about the lessons we have learned and how it's going to make us better as a group."
