DAVID MOYES insists he is ready for the Everton boo boys.

HOT RECEPTION: United boss David Moyes knows he will walk into a chorus of jeers at Everton

And he goes back to Goodison tomorrow insisting he did all the ground for the club's current Champions League push.

Manchester United boss Moyes returns to his old stamping ground for the very first time after ending an 11-years assocation with the club last summer.

He was taunted by Everton fans with chants of 'you're getting sacked in the morning' when they met in December, as the Toffees claimed their first Old Trafford win in 21 years.

Moyes was upset by the reaction of the fans who used to cheer him.

And to rub salt into his wounds, his successor Roberto Martinez could yet lead Everton into the Champions League, while United have gone from champions to chumps this season.

But Moyes believes he deserves part of the credit for Everton's superb season.

POACHING THE TOFFEES: Moyes believes his attempts to lure Leighton Baines to Old Trafford may be one of the reasons why some Everton fans have turned on him

"Don't forget Everton finished above Liverpool last year - and the year before. In a way, it should not be a surprise they are doing well."

Moyes has not even watched a game at Goodison Park since he replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

He admits United's failed summer bid to land Leighton Baines as well as midfielder Marouane Fellaini - who eventually joined for £27m - riled Everton fans.

Some were already angry that he had been invited round to Ferguson's house and told he had been chosen for the Old Trafford job as his contract conveniently ran out.

Moyes said: "Possibly  the way people have seen me leaving. Maybe people don't believe how it happened.

"I think there was animosity because of the players - we'd like to have bought a couple of them.

"Hopefully in time everyone will look at it and say it was a really good period in Everton's history.

"They've been in the top seven or eight for most seasons recently. You have to remember we also finished in the Champions League.

HE DESERVES CREDIT: Moyes has praised his Everton succesor Roberto Martinez and says the Spaniard has done an excellent job

"I regularly hear from the players, they text me. I have good communications from them.

"I understand the Everton supporters have to get right behind their team but this game isn't about me, it's about two teams."

Everton are looking for their first double over United in 44 years.

United coach and ex-Everton skipper Phil Neville admits the season has been a failure for the defending champions.

He said: "We have not fulfilled any levels of expectations this season.

"We have failed on the football pitch and that doesn't sit kindly with anyone.

"It's been difficult watching other teams above us do well and to even look at a league table.

"I find it difficult to watch Match of the Day on Saturday night; I find it almost impossible because we've suffered this season."
