One of the Spaniard's representatives has stressed the player is keen to see out his contract with Barcelona despite rumours linking him with a move to MLS
Barcelona midfielder Xavi has not received any offers from other clubs during the January transfer window, according to his representative.
The 33-year-old has been linked with a possible switch to New York Red Bulls, while Premier League giants Manchester City are also reportedly keen on a securing a deal which would see the player join their Major League Soccer franchise New York FC.
However, one of the Spain veteran's entourage have stressed the player is keen to see out the remaining two years of his contract at San Siro, insisting the transfer rumours have emerged simply due to a recent interview in which Xavi claimed it can be difficult for players to see out their careers with Barcelona.
"There has never been a formal proposal from another team for Xavi," his representative told Goal. "This has always been done through intermediaries, but no team has come with an offer.
"Who wouldn't want Xavi? It's normal for his age, for his quality. Today we hear it's Red Bulls, tomorrow they could decide that it's Toronto who want him, and the English media say it's Manchester City.
"But there's nothing in it, although it's logical for them to make up what they want.
"All of this has come about after Xavi said he didn't know if he could retire at Barcelona, but he has a contract for two more years and he will continue to be at Barcelona."
