Wenger will only sign

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has no plans to overhaul the squad in the upcoming transfer window.

The Frenchman's transfer coffers were reportedly boosted with 30 million pounds from the Arsenal board as the team head into the January transfer period.

Although the Gunners have since missed out on Schalke's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who rebuffed Arsenal's advances to extend his contract with his current employers, Wenger is rumoured to be keeping tabs on Newcastle's Demba Ba and Manchester United's Nani.

Despite fans' eagerness for the Arsenal boss to bolster the squad, Wenger told The Sun that he would only be swooping for special players.

"We are in the market but only if we find players who will really strengthen us because we have a good squad. But if we find an exceptional player then we will take him," Wenger stated.

The Gunners manager revealed he was impressed with the displays put on by his team in recent wins against Reading and Wigan, with such performances convincing him that the squad was good enough on its own.

"We lacked fluidity in our attacks against Wigan and continuity in our attacking play but we won because of our will to win," Wenger noted.

"And, with the way things are now, I won't turn my nose up at that."

Arsenal's next Premier League game takes place on Saturday when they play Newcastle.
