Primera Division surprise package Real Mallorca will be looking to extend their unbeaten start and break a club record when they take on Getafe on Monday.

Three win and two draws have seen Joaquin Caparros' side equal their highest-ever points total after five top-flight games, and another victory on Monday would take the current squad into uncharted territory.

With only seven goals scored, their flying start has been built on a strong defence.

And Ximo, a key figure in their in-form back line, told AS: "It would be nice for the team to make history but the important thing is to get the three points.

"The team has started very well, we did not expect to start this well. We have not lost and we have to make sure the first defeat comes as late as possible.

"The season has just started and eventually the team will lose, but we are calm and we will try to continue this good run."

Giovani dos Santos is progressing well in his recovery from an injury suffered on Olympic duty with Mexico but is likely to have to wait until Sunday's clash with Granada to make his debut.

The game also comes too soon for Javi Marquez and Alvaro, though both are on the comeback trail along with Dos Santos.

Getafe coach Luis Garcia has called on his team to improve their own defending as they bid to improve on a record of seven points from five games.

"We must cut down on chances," he told his club's website. "We have to be more together and compact.

"And when we have the ball, we have to be more aggressive and clinical.

"Mallorca live on counter-attacks and set-pieces, and I mean that as a compliment.

"They have started very well. They are very intense, they defend together and seize every opportunity to score.

"They will be very confident and we have to be at our best to beat a team on a roll."

Alexis Ruano begins a two-game ban after his dismissal in the defeat to Celta Vigo last time out.
