SFA to rule on penalty incident after ref meeting

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP)—The Scottish Football Association will not decide what action to take over the incident that led a linesman to quit the sport until after its referee committee meets on Friday.
Steven Craven resigned after he and his family were abused following a referee’s decision to overturn a penalty awarded to Celtic in a Scottish Premier League match against Dundee United—apparently on Craven’s advice.
SFA chief executive Stewart Regan says he has concluded his own investigation into the incident but that “it would therefore not be appropriate to comment any further until the committee has met.”
Regan added that he had spoken with Craven, referee Dougie McDonald and other officials.
Scottish media have reported that McDonald could be demoted over the incident.
