Brechin travel to New Bayview without Smith

Brechin boss Jim Weir has seen his plans for the trip to East Fife altered after Barry Smith was confirmed as the interim manager of troubled club Dundee.

The defender, who was also youth coach at First Division Dundee, has taken up the position after Gordon Chisholm and his assistant Billy Dodds were made redundant with the Dark Blues in financial ruin.

Brechin midfielder Charlie King is also missing after he picked up a severe injury in a practice game against Stirling Albion last week to reduce Weir's options further.

Weir said: "We lost down there earlier in the season so picking up three points and staying top of the league would be a good way of putting that right."

East Fife midfielder Lloyd Young has shaken off injury to be included in manager Steven Crawford's plans for the visit of the league leaders.

The Fifer's boss is looking for his charges to repeat the 4-3 success they had over Jim Weir's side at the start of the season in the ALBA Challenge Cup.

Crawford said, "That was a good game of football and we showed that we can compete with the likes of Brechin in that game.

"I believe we can also take points off anyone at New Bayview and this would be a great game to prove it in.

"Lloyd featured in a reserve game and came through it unscathed so I am pleased he is available to us for this one."
