East Fife kick off their league season at home against relegated Airdrie with only long term injury worry Steven Campbell unavailable to manager Steven Crawford.

Summer signing Steven Hyslop is available after returning from his honeymoon with Crawford determined that his side makes up for a poor showing against Fife neighbours Raith Rovers last Saturday.

Crawford said: "Last weekend was really disappointing and we were out of the game by half time.

"Airdrie may have a young side but Airdrie sides always fight for everything and that makes them dangerous opponents.

"I am looking for my players to give me a positive reaction to last weekend's game and win the points to get us off to a good start in the league."

Airdrie have a doubt over young striker Tony Watt.

The teenager injured a hamstring in training but interim manager Jimmy Boyle is confident he will be fit in time.

Watt's presence is needed as the Diamonds are still operating with a squad of 14 players with Airdrie's youth squad filling any gaps.

Boyle is looking for his young side to build on the morale boosting cup win against Albion Rovers last weekend by getting points on board as soon as possible.

He said: "We are a very young side and it was important to get a win after losing to Ayr the week before.

"The win lifted everyone's spirits and training has been great this week."
