Robert Lewandowski scored his second hat-trick in eight days and Xabi Alonso hit a screamer as Bayern Munich began the defence of their Bundesliga title with a 6-0 mauling of Werder Bremen on Friday (26th August).

Xabi Alonso put Bayern ahead against Werder Bremen after just nine minute with a powerhouse of a hit.

Robert Lewandowski doubled the home side’s advantage just four minutes later as Bremen crumbled.

A minute into the second half Lewandowski scored again to put Bayern three up.

Phillip Lahm got in on the act to make it four, with Franck Ribery then adding a fifth.

Lewandowski completed his hat trick from the penalty spot in the 77th minute as Bayern cruised to a 6-0 win.
