  • West Indies collapsed on the final day as India won the third Test by 237 runs on Saturday (13th August) to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series.

SOUNDBITE (English): Virat Kohli, India captain

"The team is feeling really good, especially as we didn't have a day off playing in Jamaica. And the fifth day was really testing for us - we didn't get the result that we wanted. Here as well, we played two good days of Test cricket. Then losing day three. But again day four the bowlers came back and executed what we wanted to. Bhuvneshwar (Kumar) was amazing in the afternoon. You know, picking up five wickets for 28 runs on that wicket in 24 overs was a great spell. That really changed this around for us. Not forgetting the first innings (Wriddhiman) Saha and (Ravichandran) Ashwin the way they batted was really top class Test cricket as well. So the team is really happy. Obviously, we are really glad that we could execute our plans and wrap up the series here. So we can play with more positive intent in Trinidad and express ourselves fully and understand the areas where we still needed to improve on as Test side. But all-in-all the team is really happy with the fact that we had four days but we were still able to finish a Test match with one-and-a-half sessions to go."

SOUNDBITE (English): Jason Holder, West Indies captain

"Look, at the beginning of the series, I made it very clear that we needed to show signs of improvement. We had a really tough tour in Australia in terms of bowling and I have seen significant improvements in our bowling. We have been inconsistent with the bat for quite a while and it just a situation where we need to bring together a complete game. You have got to make steps forward. You can't just leap, as a baby needs a crib before you can walk. Definitely winning is obviously a first priority, but you need to put yourself in a position to win games. And the only way you can do that is by one, taking 20 wickets and at least putting up a very good first innings total where you can secure the game in terms of a draw and then push for a win. We haven't been able to put ourselves in those situations, just to be quite frank. So I just think moving forward, I think the more consistent we go getting those first innings totals to 350-plus. Obviously taking ten wickets up front, and then coming back, taking another 20 (sic) - I think that is the direction in which we need to move."

SOUNDBITE (English): Jason Holder, West Indies captain

"He is obviously a quality bowler. I think that the beauty about Ashwin is he makes you play a lot of deliveries. There is not many deliveries where you don't have to play and he has very good variations as well. And he is a clever bowler. He knows what he is about, he knows what he sets out to do and he can set fields and bowl to them. And that is ideally what Test cricket is all about. Credit must be given to Ashwin. I think we played him reasonably well, up front. But he has got five-wicket hauls already, but as I say before, he has got five-wicket hauls against a few other teams as well. I think you can't take anything away from the bowling of Ashwin.
