  • Serena Williams on winning gold at the Olympics and potential retirement.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Serena Williams on her plans to retire from the sport:

"Well, I love what I do, I do it everyday and I enjoy being out on the court and I enjoy competing. And right now, I just don't see a time where I just say I don't want to do it anymore. As long as I'm doing anything, whether I'm playing tennis or doing something else, I always give my maximum effort and that's just what I bring to the court everyday."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Serena Williams, four-time Olympic gold medallist on the significance of the Olympics:

"All our lives, us tennis players, I think everyone on the panel, we dream of playing in grand slams, and we dream of winning grand slams, we dream of having the opportunity to hold that trophy, and then there's the Olympics. And you know, playing the Olympics, was totally different, cos you're playing for your country and when I held my first gold medal, it was a feeling that I never expected, cos you compete with so many great athletes from across the globe in every single sport and you know, I really had an opportunity to truly enjoy and appreciate my gold medal probably more than a lot of my other trophies."
