Gary Ballance impressed with the bat for england as he made 70 runs following the first day of the third Test between England and Pakistan on Wednesday .

"No I am very happy with that. I would have loved to have got a hundred, obviously but that doesn't always happen. So we have put ourselves in a decent position."

"We thought it was about par. We had a chat at tea and we said to lets try and crap 2-300 hundred and be happy with that. That is just what we did, If someone goes on and gets a big hundred then we go and get 350-400 but none of the batters really fell in all day and it felt like it just kept you honest. There was a bit of seam movement and a bit of sideways movement the whole day so yeah, just kept us honest and you just never really felt in all day."

"I didn't even have a clue. Honestly I don't read any sport media. I have got away from that after last year so I didn't even know I was under pressure. I was just coming to play a game of cricket. yeah, I mean..i think playing Test cricket you are under pressure anyway - you are playing for your country and you put yourself under pressure to perform anyway and it is hard enough when you start listening to other people. So I didn't really feel like it. I just wanted to score runs. I wanted to do well and luckily today I have got a decent score but, like I said I felt good the last few weeks and hopefully I can carry on that form."
