Cricket: Rahane reflects on third day's play

Wednesday, August 03 2016 by SNTV
  • Reaction from India's Ajinkya Rahane after his century, following day three of the second test in Kingston Jamaica on Monday (1st August)

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ajinkya Rahane, Indian batsman:

    (after his unbeaten 108)

"We were not thinking about the weather. I think initially this morning our plan was to play normal cricket and then after lunch, unfortunately Wriddhiman (Wriddhiman Saha) got out just before lunch, but I think that partnership was really important for us. We had the opportunity to bat long and bat once. And I felt we did that really well. But after lunch there is still some help for the fast bowlers and I felt (Jason) Holder bowled a very good spell before lunch. After lunch the plan was to play positive and if we try and get a 300-plus lead and that's what we did. Unfortunately rain just came in. We cannot control that. But really happy at the kind of cricket we played."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ajinkya Rahane, Indian batsman:

"I never think about scoring hundreds. I think results will follow automatically if I prepare well or my routines are right. So I just think about all the small small things which are actually really helpful for me. But I think scoring a hundred here is really special. And once you get to a hundred, the three figure mark it's really really special for the batsmen"
