  • Lance Stroll extended his Formula 3 European Championship lead with a win at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on Saturday (30th July).

Inclement weather affected the start of the seventh round of the F3 season at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium on Saturday, with the first of three races getting underway behind the safety car.

Championship leader Lance Stroll started in pole position.

The 17-year-old Canadian dominated the 33-minute plus one lap race to take the chequered flag ahead of fellow Prema Powerteam driver Maximilian Gunther of Germany.

It was Stroll's seventh win of the season.

Briton Ben Barnicoat completed the podium.

Stroll was upstaged by rookie Joel Eriksson in the final two races.

The 18-year-old Swede finished runner-up to Britain's George Russell in Race 2 before clinching his maiden victory in Race 3.

Anthoine Hubert of Van Amersfoort Racing and Russell of HitechGP finished second and third respectively in the concluding race, while Stroll came in fourth.

After 21 races, Stroll leads the standings with 296 points, 61 ahead of Gunther.

    Eriksson is sixth.

Germany's Nurburgring will host the next round of the F3 Championship from the 9th to the 11th of September.
