Nadal discusses the opening of his museum, injuries and the Olympics

  • At the opening of the Museo Rafael Nadal in Mallorca on Wednesday (20th July), the eponymous tennis hero talked about his problems with injury - and hopes for the forthcoming Olympic Games in Rio.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Rafael Nadal

    (on the museum):

    "It's an interactive place that you are going to find different activities. A lot of digital things that you can find the history of a sport in general. It is difficult to explain what is going on in the museum. But I think the people who want to come here are going to enjoy the sport at the highest standards. They are going to feel like they are practising the sport very close to like a professional athlete does."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Rafael Nadal

    (regarding Nadal's injured wrist):

    "Well the evolution (recovery) is fine. I would love to be in Toronto next week, but the time is not enough. But everything is improving well now. So I really hope and I really believe hat I am going to be ready for Rio."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Rafael Nadal

    (on the Olympic Games):

    "I am going to try my best to be ready for it (the Rio Olympics). I believe and I really hope that I am going to be there. But at the same time I want to be there being more or less competitive."
