'I could never forgive myself if my kid got something' - Grace

  • Branden Grace gave his thoughts on golf's inclusion in the Olympic Games on Sunday.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Branden Grace, world number 12 (Q: Having heard the others opinions, would you reconsider your decision not to play in the Olympics?):
"I would love to play in an Olympic team, represent your country. I mean it is the highest honour you can play in. But for me, like Suzann (Pettersen) said, you know it's tough. I am getting married in November, family for me is a very important part of my life. You know we actually had the conversation last night at the table, if I am the cause of my kid coming out with something and something happens. You know it's just a call you have to make and it's something I will never forgive myself for. You know it is a pity, like I said, everybody looks at it differently, that's my opinion. I hope that I can represent my country in four years time, I hope that I can get to the next one and make it worth my while then, but for now it's my call. I know it is a harsh one, but a lot of guys have the same opinions, a lot of guys see it differently, it is just something you have to do. I think this time I have put myself and my family first and we might not be even able to have kids, you never know until it gets to that point. But if there is a possibility that I can prevent something happening, then I will do."
