  • Double Olympic shot putt champion Tomasz Majewski trains ahead of the upcoming Rio Olympics.

SOUNDBITE: (Polish) Tomasz Majewski, double shot putt Olympic champion:

"I've just started my final preparations for the Olympics. It starts in less than a month, so there's really not to much time left to work on my form. Until this time I will enter a few smaller competitions. The first group of Polish athletes will travel to Rio a bit earlier to have a more time to train there and get acclimatised. I will go with the second group, just before I start."

SOUNDBITE: (Polish) Tomasz Majewski, double shot putt Olympic champion:

"The summer Olympic Games are the biggest sports festival. It's a tournament where you can get the most precious reward for your work during your career. Every Olympic Games are different than the previous one, there's always a lot of factors which influence the competition. You can be there for a second, third or fourth time, but the stress is always on the highest possible level. It is all because of the prestige, the honour, the fact that the Games take place just once every four years. It's really great to be part of it and feel the emotions inside."

SOUNDBITE: (Polish) Tomasz Majewski, double shot putt Olympic champion:

"I can see just a tiny, tiny chance for a podium in Rio, but I will for sure do my best to get the medal."
(Q: Is it important for you which colour this medal would be?)
"It doesn't matter which colour, I will take every medal without question. Of course as every athlete I would love to get a gold - especially as I am defending champion. Unfortunately the competition is huge. That's why I have to be realistic and I know that my chances of getting a medal are really poor."
