  • USA Seven's rugby coach Mike Friday believes his side are "more than capable of winning a medal" when the sport makes its Olympic debut in Rio de Janeiro this summer.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Mike Friday, US Rugby Sevens coach

"We're now seen as one of the highly respected, well regarded, teams in the world. We're seen as genuine contenders for every cup competition we participate in. We're seen as genuine medal contenders by the super powers of rugby. We're feared by the rest of the world. We're respected by the rest of the world, which for any country is the most important thing and means that we can be proud of what we achieved, but also means our supporters and the people we represent can be proud that we're recognised and respected around the world. So can we medal? Absolutely we can. This is the beauty of this game, if you're slightly off, you get knocked off. If you're on your game, you've got every opportunity. Team USA and the USA Sevens have proved that when we're on the money we can beat anybody in the world which means come Rio-time, we're more than capable of winning a medal."
