  • USA overcame New Zealand-conquering Kenya to go into Sevens World Series semifinal in Las Vegas. Fiji, South Africa and Australia also won in the Cup quarter-finals on Saturday (5th March).

Las Vegas Rugby Sevens semis were decided on Saturday (5th March). Robust home support cheered the US to a significant victory over Kenya, and Fiji, Australia and South Africa recorded dominant performances in their quarterfinal victories. In each match the first to score went on to win.

The US faced a Kenyan side that had beaten New Zealand in the pool stages, but the hosts led early through this Danny Barrett try which Perry Baker followed up soon after.

Kenya hit back: a Collins Injera try first, then this run from Billy Odhiambo to take the game into the interval poised 14-14.

US coach Mike Friday's half time talk must have been a good one because those were the last points Kenya would take. Martin Iosefo and Zack Test's tries secured a 26-14 win for the hosts.

In the second quarter final Fiji scored early and often to defeat Japan 43-7. Here's the pick of the victor's seven tries: a superb effort from Amenoni Nasilasila.

South Africa's Seabelo Senatla made two first half tries to beat New Zealand 14-7. The 23-year-old winger has been a key player in the Blitzboks success in Las Vegas, creating all of his sides points here.

And Australia wrapped up their match 26-12 against Argentina. Going into Las Vegas, the two sides shared 4th place in the World Series Standings but the Argies were outplayed here; Wallabies' Sam Myers scoring twice to wrap things up.

USA will take on Fiji on Sunday (6th March) while South Africa face Australia to decide who will meet in the final.
