SOUNDBITE: (English) Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals Manager (on getting an early lead):

"It hasn't happened in like a week, but, yeah, it was nice. It was nice against a team like that and the way that Eddie (Edinson Volquez) was throwing. But even though you have, you know, a two or three run cushion, that club has the ability to put two or three runs up on the board in a heartbeat. So you're never comfortable. You feel good about the way Eddie is throwing, and knowing that you've got Kelvin and Madson and Wade (Davis) to get you through the last few innings, but it was nice to get a lead."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Edinson Volquez, Kansas City Royals Pitcher:

"I said it yesterday, I said I'm going to pitch inside, both sides of the plate. And tonight we come from the bullpen, I talked to Salvy (catcher Salvador Perez) about how we're going to pitch this guy. And we changed the whole plan, the game plan. It was like, okay - we know they've got a lot of power hitters over there. And he told me, like how do you feel pitching down and away? And I said, I feel sexy tonight (laughter). He was all right, we're going to change the game plan. We're going to pitch those guys away. That was good, I was able to command my fast down and away. "

SOUNDBITE: (English) Edinson Volquez, Kansas City Royals Pitcher:

"We win the first game it's going to be big for the team, especially when we play at home. You don't want to go to Toronto 0-2. And it was good for the team and for the city I think. Now we've got a couple more games to play. And I hope we can win tomorrow and show up."

SOUNDBITE: (English) John Gibbons, Toronto Blue Jays Manager:

"They're dangerous, and they put the ball in play, so things happen and they have good team speed. Tonight was the (Edinson) Volquez show, he was tremendous. We had a couple innings there, had a couple walks, we got some guys on base the one time, it came up empty. And he was that good tonight, and of course they get to the bullpen, those guys, (Kelvin) Herrera came through, walked through us pretty easily. And then we made a run a little bit at (Ryan) Madson, but came up empty."
