SOUNDBITE: (English) Mike Matheny, St. Louis Cardinals manager (on his emotions after loss):

"Well, you know, it was just unfortunate. This is a team that was as impressive to watch from day one as any team I've ever been around, and just a collection of skill and fight and character and just all the way across the board from the veteran guys leading to the young guys figuring out a way to contribute. I mean,it was a special group. And that's always hard to walk away from. We had an opportunity maybe to get back home and do things differently, but they took advantage of the opportunities they had. And the guys fought back into this game after having a good lead early, and just going back and forth, the long ball really made us pay the last two days, and this team plays well with this park."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Joe Maddon, Chicago Cubs manager (on why team has done so well this season):

"So, I think it's a combination of the kids themselves. They're just really accountable, young baseball players that are very skilled. Combine that with this wonderful group of veterans that give them good information on a daily basis. Everybody bought in from Spring Training on. We've been on the same page pretty well, and to have that really occur, the veteran group really has to buy in because they're the ones who are going to carry the message for you, and I've talked about it all year. So it's a combination of the coaching staff combined with the veterans."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Kyle Schwarber, Chicago Cubs leftfielder (on how he felt hitting home run):

"It doesn't really feel like anything. Just looking for a good pitch to hit, and I got it, and you hit it, and you run around the bases and the place is going nuts. And that's when it hits you, that this is what it's all about. This is what you live to play baseball for is playing in front of your home crowd in the playoffs. And then coming into the dugout, you know, our team is awesome. I can say it over and over again, the personalities that we have in the clubhouse are unbelievable, and it makes it so much fun to come to the ballpark every day."
