Script: China took on Serbia in Pool B of the Volleyball Women's World Cup in Matsumoto.

In the tournament-opener for both sides, Serbia won the first set 25-19 comfortably with Tijana Boskovic scoring the decisive point.

But China, led by coach Lang Ping and top point scorer Ting Zhu, fought back to win the second set 25-23 to even the match out at one apiece.

China seemed to find their rhythm and they went on to dominate the third set, winning 24-15 before then taking the fourth 25-19 to seal the victory.

It is only the first game at the World Cup but China will be encouraged by their performance - they take on Algeria next on Sunday.

Serbia, meanwhile, will meet the USA in their next fixture.

And all teams will play in a round-robin format in their pool to decide who progresses through to the latter stages of the tournament.
