  • Intro:

Top seeds Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca won their all-Brazilian final against Fernanda Alves and Taiana Lima 2-0 (21-13, 21-17) to clinch the FIVB Gstaad Major Series on Saturday.

    Script:

Switzerland might not spring to mind when you think of beach volleyball but the country actually has the most consequtive years of hosting events on the FIVB World Tour.

Fans packed in once again to watch the women's semi-finals, unfortunately the American pair of April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings could only watch too...

SOUNDBITE: (English) Kerri Walsh Jennings, USA (On her withdrawing from semi-finals and third-place playoff because of a shoulder injury)

"I feel pretty good. I feel like I am happy with our decision that we're not playing, just because my shoulder feels very weak, but it's not very painful. But it's hard being out here by the sand and knowing that we should be competing right now to go to the finals. It's hard in my heart, but it's the right thing to do."

That also meant the third-place playoff was uncontested as ninth seeds Heather Bansley and Sarah Pavan, of Canada won bronze.

So to the all Brazilian final. top seeds Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca raced through the first set against Fernanda Alves and Taiana Lima winning it 21-13.

There were made to work harder in the second set but the whole match took just 32 minutes. Larissa and Talita took the next 21-17 for a comprehensive win.
