SOUNDBITE: (English) Maria Kelly, Head of Sotheby's Regional Specialists:

(on Reggie Jackson's acquisition of the Yankee letters)

"He (Reggie Jackson) purchased them when they destroyed the old Yankee Stadium. He felt like he couldn't let that be gone and lost forever. It was a piece of history so he bought them when it went down and kept them ever since. And now he feels like it's time to transmit them to somebody else who can enjoy them at their leisure."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Maria Kelly, Head of Sotheby's Regional Specialists:

(on Reggie Jackson attending the auction:)

"Yes he's (Reggie Jackson) definitely going to be here so we're very excited to have him in the room. He's extremely excited too. He's looking forward to being part of the auction and see it fly hopefully."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Maria Kelly, Head of Sotheby's Regional Specialists:

(on the appeal of the item to the art community as well as sport collectors)

"I mean I think there are art collectors that could be totally interested in this. I have to say our contemporary department has been very excited to see these. So I think it can appeal to lots of people, it's not just the sports aficionado."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Maria Kelly, Head of Sotheby's Regional Specialists:

(on the anticipated worth of the item)

"We've estimated it at US$300,000-US$600,000. do hope it goes for more. I think it will go for whatever people are ready to pay for it. I think it's a unique piece. We see this in lots of pieces we sell at Sotheby's that are unique: you can't really price this. Nobody else has anything like this and I don't think you can buy another one than from here. So it's the opportunity. It's priceless."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Maria Kelly, Head of Sotheby's Regional Specialists:

(on the Mets bullpen cart form the 1986 World Series as part of the larger NY sale)

"So to stay in the same vein of the sports memorabilia we have the Met's baseball car downstairs that you may have seen. It's the bullpen cart that used to bring the players onto the field during the game. It was part of the 1986 World Series."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Maria Kelly, Head of Sotheby's Regional Specialists:

(on the date of the auction)

"The sale, the auction will be on the 1st of April. It's going to be an evening auction. So again it's going to be accessible to New Yorkers who work because we're going to be open late. And again it's going to be quite an event and I think it's going to be fun and hopefully successful."
