Gut triumphs in Super G at Lake Louise

    Switzerland's Lara Gut won the women's Super G World Cup event in Lake Louise, Canada on Sunday (7 December).

    Lara Gut took victory in the women's World Cup Super-G on Sunday.

    The Swiss clocked a time of one minute 18.46 seconds.

    American Lindsey Vonn, who'd won the downhill event on Saturday, finished second 0.37 seconds behind as she continues to impress on her return from a second knee operation.

    Vonn, the four-time overall World Cup champion, missed this years Winter Olympics in Sochi because of injury.

    Slovenian Tina Maze was third in the Super-G, 0.81 seconds off Gut's winning time.

    Maze leads the overall standings on 380 points, 117 points ahead of second-placed Anna Fenninger, with another Austrian, Kathrin Zetttel, in third on 250 points.

    Vonn's impressive weekend, now sees her in fourth overall, on 212 points.
