Lindsey Vonn is finally back - this time it's official.

The American won her first race in nearly two years as she led an American podium sweep in a World Cup downhill at Lake Louise in Canada.

Vonn has come a long way, having undergone rehab to return from both a knee injury and a shin fracture.

But with confidence finally restored in her surgically repaired knee, the four-time champion aggressively charged her way down the course recording a time of 1 minute, 50.48 seconds.

It proved enough to secure her 15th career win at Lake Louise.

Vonn's teammates were right behind her, both in terms of support and on the leaderboard - Stacey Cook took second while Julia Mancuso closed the day in third.

Her last race victory dates back to January 2013 in Slovenia - Vonn is now two wins away from matching the World Cup record of 62 race victories held by Annemarie Moser-Proell of Austria.

She will continue her comeback in Sunday's Super-G.
