SOUNDBITE (English) Derek Jeter, New York Yankees Captain:

"I wanted to take one last view from short. I was trying to take a last view at the top of the ninth and then they tied it and I thought I was going to have to go out there, but yeah, I say a little prayer before every game and I basically just said thank you, because this is all I've ever wanted to do and not too many people get an opportunity to do it and it was above and beyond anything I've ever dreamed of and... I mean I don't even know what to say, it's just... I've lived a dream, this is... since I was four, five years old and part of that dream is over now."

SOUNDBITE (English) Derek Jeter, New York Yankees Captain:

"I've played my last game at short. Today was my last game playing shortstop, I want to take something special from Yankee Stadium and the view from shortstop here, tonight, was what I wanted to take from it, you know, out of respect for the Red Sox and their fans and the rivalry... I'm going to DH, you know... I don't know about tomorrow, I'm not sure, but... I'll play, but I hope that people can respect my decision on that, but I've only played shortstop my entire career and the last time I wanted to play was tonight."
