    Saina Nehwal of India marched into the finals of The Star Australian Badminton Open after defeating the number one seed Wang Shixian from China in three games - 21-19, 16-21, 21-15 - in the semi-finals on Saturday (28th June) at the State Sports Center near the Sydney Olympic Park.

    The semi-finals of The Star Australian Badminton Open 2014 were staged on Saturday at the Sydney Olympic Park, Australia.

    Saina Nehwal of India played against top seed Wang Shixian from China in the women's singles and beat the former world number one in three tough games which lasted for 76 minutes.

    Wang picked up a game after losing the first one, but the Chinese player failed to continue her form in the third game and lost the match.

    Nehwal will face Carolina Marin of Spain in the final on Sunday.

    In the mixed doubles, Michael Fuchs and Birgit Michels of Germany booked a place in the final after beating number five seeds Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkam in two straight games.

    In men's doubles, Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong beat Thien How Hoon and Boon Heong Tan of Malaysia in two games, 21-14, 21-16.

    One of the men's singles was played on Saturday between Simon Santoso andTommy Sugiarto.

    Santoso marched into the final after upsetting No.3 seed Sugiarto in two straight games.

    He will meet Lin Dan of China in Sunday's final.

    China's Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei beat number one seeds Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark in three games

    They will face Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi of Japan in Sunday's final.
