Monday, March 31 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Simon Santoso came from a set down to win badminton's Malaysian Grand Prix men's final in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

    Script:

India's Sourabh Varma looked just too good for Simon Santoso in the first set of the Malaysian Grand Prix men's final.

He took that one 21-15 but then the Indonesian fought back, Santoso won the next 21-16 and then the decisive set 21-19.

Varma left to wonder what might have been in the presentation.

The women's final was much more one sided. China's Xue Yao dominated from start to finish to win 21-18, 21-8 against Adrianti Firdasari of Indonesia.

The mixed doubles was also fairly straight forward for China's Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong, they beat Indonesia's Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto 21-14, 21-13.

Hopes of a Malaysian win came in the men's doubles final but V Shem Goh and Khim Wah Lim came up short against Singapore's
Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Chayut Triyachart. you can see what it means to them, this is their first ever title they've won together.
