Francesco Schiavone may think twice before missing the Fed cup again for extra practise, and she's not the only one.

Schiavone is now the 4th player to miss the US versus Italy tie that that has crashed out of the Quatar open in the first round.

Sloane Stephens, Roberta Vinci and Flavia Pennetta are the other players who have exited early in Doha.

Schiavone lost to Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova in 3 tight sets, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (3).

There was an usual scene during the match between wildcard Alisa Kleybanova and 10th-seed Dominika Cibulkova.

At 5-5 in the first set, the recent Australian Open finalist, won a point and then ran from the court.

And she never came back ...eventually retiring from the match with a gastrointestinal illness.

It was a disappointing end to her first tournament since losing in Melbourne.

She said, "Unfortunately I became very sick today and suddenly did not feel well. I wanted to give it a try today and I did everything I could to try to play, but I could not continue."
