Paul-Henri Mathieu and Tomas Berdych were the early winners at the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on Monday.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga came from a set down to defeat Florian Mayer and Philipp Kohlschreiber enjoyed a straight sets victory over Sergiy Stakhovsky later in the day.

Tomas Berdych swept aside Andreas Seppi in the first round of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam on Monday.

The third-seeded Czech recorded a 6-3, 6-3 victory over his Italian opponent in only an hour and six minutes.

Berdych, coming off a successful Australian Open where he reached the semi-finals, broke once in the first set and twice in the second, securing a routine win.

He was utterly dominant on serve, not facing a single break point.

Berdych was joined in the second round by Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu.

Mathieu progressed after fighting back from a set down against Croatia's Ivan Dodig 4-6 7-6(2) 6-4.

Elsewhere, fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga had to recover from a set down to get past Germany's Florian Mayer.

Mayer took the only break point in the first set but the French world number 10 responded to win the second and pull away in the third, eventually winning 4-6 6-3 6-1.

Mayer's compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber saw off Ukraine's Sergey Stakhovsky in the last match of the day.

Kohlschreiber needed less than 24 minutes to take the first set, breaking twice and serving out with his only ace of the set.

A solitary late break was enough in the second as the German completed a 6-2 7-5 win in just an hour and five minutes on court.
