Defending champions Czech Republic have edged in front against Holland in their Davis Cup first round match in Ostrava.

The sides were level going into Saturday's quality looking doubles match between Czech pair Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek and Dutch duo Robin Haase and John-Julian Rojer.

The home side won a crucial tie-break in the third set and then broke serve in the first game of the next.

The Dutch pair were stubborn though and took the set to a tie-break. The second match point was a classic.

The Czech's now need to win just one of Sunday's two singles matches two reach the quarter-finals where Canada or Japan will face the winners.
