Lizzy Yarnold of Great Britain won her third World Cup gold of the Bobsleigh World Cup at Winterberg in Germany on Saturday.

There was little to choose between the skeleton racers after the first run with Lizzy Yarnold and Noelle Pikus-Pace tied for first place having both clocked a time of 58.94 seconds.

But Yarnold turned on the style in the second run.

She produced a time of 58.59 seconds, that gave her an overall time of 1:57.53 minutes - and with it, the gold medal.

For Yarnold of Great Britain, it was a third win of a season in which she has finished on the podium in all five races.

And there was plenty for the home crowd to cheer about.

Maximilian Arndt led his quarter to the gold medal in the four man bobsleigh in a time of 1:49.97 minutes.

The result consolidates Arndt's position at the top of the overall World Cup standings.

He has 813 points and is 70 ahead of Steven Holcomb of the USA who crashed out in Winterberg.
